Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is born on
January 27th at Salzburg, Austria.
1762

Mozart, along with his sister, begin to tour Europe
as child prodigies. These series of concerts began
with an exhibition, in 1762, at the court of the
Prince-elector Maximilian III of Bavaria in Munich as
well as at the Imperial Court in Vienna and Prague.
1764

Mozart compose his first symphony at the age of eight.
1768

Premiere of Mozart's first opera,
Bastien und Bastienne, in Vienna.
It was written when he was only twelve
years old.
1771

The success of Mitridate, re di Ponto has led to
further opera commissions. Indeed, Mozart premieres
his composition
Ascanio in Alba in Milan successfully.
1772

The success of Ascanio in Alba has led to
the premiere of Mozart's next opera:
Lucio Silla. It was performed once again
in Milan successfully.

Mozart is employed as a court musician by the ruler of
Salzburg, Prince-Archbishop Hieronymous Colloredo. He
had the opportunity to work with symphonies, sonates,
string quartets, masses, serenades, and a few minor
operas.

Mozarts premieres
La finta giardiniera in Munich
successfully after having done unsuccessful trips to
Vienna and Munich with his father.
1777

Mozart resigns his position at Salzburg in August 1777.
On the 23rd of September, he began venturing for a
job, with visits to Augsburg, Mannheim, Paris, and Munich.
Finally, he becomes acquainted with members of the
orchestra in Mannheim, be one of the best orchestras
in Europe at the time.
1781

Idomeneo premieres with "considerable
success" in Munich.
1782

After much turmoil in the courtship, and after much
difficulty in getting his father's approval, Mozart
finally manages to marry Constanze Weber. The wedding
toke place in Vienna's St.Stephen's Cathedral.
1783

Mozart and his wife visit his family in Salzburg. His
father and sister were cordially polite to Constanze,
but the visit prompted the composition of one of
Mozart's great liturgical pieces, the
Mass in C minor.
1787

The Marriage of Figaro and is a tremendous
success in Prague. Mozart's father dies on 28 May 1787.
Don Giovanni is a huge
success in Prague.
1788

Mozart is reported to be suffering from depression,
which led to a slower work output.
1790

The last of the three Da Ponte operas,
Così fan tutte premieres
in Vienna without much success.
1791

Mozart falls ill in Prague.
The Magic Flute
premieres on 30 September in Vienna. His health
deteriorates on 20 Novemeber, at which point he
becomes bedridden, suffering from swelling, pain,
and vomiting. Mozart dies at the age of 35 in his
home on 5 December 1791 at 1:00am.
